OUR STORY

Chicken math is real.

One breed of chicken became two breeds of chickens and chicken math became real. Now today we are breeding five specialty breeds on our farm.

ABOUT CHICKEN D RANCH

A little slice of land in Saginaw, MN provides beautiful rolling green grass and cozy, safe barns for our chickens to call home. Dan began raising Lavender Orpingtons and French Black Copper Maran chicks in the Winter of 2019. Expanding chickens gave more variety. Our varieties expanded to Barred Rocks and Beilefelders. We learned a lot of information from the chicken farming community and personal research over the last few years.

On a fun night out with friends we began the possibilities to name Dan's chicken business. One name led to another fun name - and before you know it 'Chicken D Ranch' came to life.

Today, Chicken D Ranch offers chicks and pullets from five distinct breeds of chicken; Lavender Orpington, French Black Copper Marans, Barred Rock, Beilefelder and Whiting True Blue. Each bird has unique and distinct characteristics to add character to your flock or introduce another line to your current breeding program. We love our birds and we hope you will too!

HAPPY BIRDS &
HEALTHY FLOCKS

When you buy birds from Chicken D Ranch, you can feel confident that our birds are not only loved and cared for, but healthy too.

We participate in the National Poultry Improvement Plan for Breeding Poultry (NPIP) program. This program is a cooperative Federal-State-Industry program through which new or existing diagnostic technology can be effectively applied to improve poultry and poultry products by controlling or eliminating specific poultry diseases.

Learn more about the program here.

Each bird that leaves our farm is inspected for health and vitality throughout the year AND prior to being packed up for your order.
